Breville SK500XL Ikon Stainless-Steel Electric Kettle
I purchased this pot as a replacement for a T-Fal that we'd had for about 5 years. A friend of ours came over to check on our cat while we were away and decided to make a cup of tea. So she put the T-Fal pot on our electric stove and caught the plastic bottom on fire. It nearly burned the house down. The water pot was destroyed, but our glass top range was able to be cleaned up and it is fine. The smell is finally gone too.
I had read some reviews about water from the Breville tasting plasticky; so I washed it and rinsed it out thoroughly upon its arrival and the water tastes perfectly fine.
My hope is that this kettle will be the workhorse that the T-Fal was. We'd have used that one until it died and will use this one until it does.
We've told our friend how to heat water in this one. We'd hate to have a repeat of the T-Fal incident.
