I've been making fruit smoothies for years, and have always used a Cuisinart smart stick. I wanted to expand my range with smoothie recipes, and so I was excited to try the Breville Dual Disc Juice Processor (there's only so much you can do with a hand held smart stick). I'll write more about what I've made in a moment, but first, a few points about this juicer:
--it's nice looking, and looks great on the countertop.
--it's well made, and very easy to clean (diswasher safe parts)
--it's relatively quiet (not TOO noisy)
--it's easy to operate and the parts you have to clean are easy to remove
--it has a wide shoot which means you can peel and throw in a whole fruit (tangerine for example)
Now, as to what I've made, here's a partial list:
Kale-Apple-banana smoothie
Carrot-pineapple-tangerine smoothie
Spinach-grape-coconut smoothie
Creamy Broccoli soup
I can't write the recipes for what I've made, because they're not my recipes, and are under copyright, but I can tell you that this machine handled all the ingredients beautifully, and the results were delicious in every case. (When I say it handled the ingredients beautifully, I mean it even worked great with the large, peeled, quartered russet potato that goes into the broccoli soup. Can't do that with a hand-blender!)
I plan to keep experimenting with new smoothie recipes, including soups, and I expect future results to be as good as what I've already tried.
If you and your family love smoothies, I'd definitely recommend the Breville Dual Disc Juice Processor for your kitchen. While it may seem pricey, you'll save money in the end by creating more delicious (and healthier!) smoothies than any processed type you can buy.
